Arts and Culture in China
Looking at your KWL chart, what do you already know about arts and culture in China? What would like to know? China hosted the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. In the opening and closing ceremony, the Chinese used the opportunity to show culture and art in their country.
Examine the video above from 13- 18 and then from 37-40 and consider the following questions; What did you notice about the video? what kind of performances did you see? what struck you about the music? what kind of costumes did the people wear? what props did they use? what did you notice about the set and artistic designs? Did you see any shapes and patters? what kind? What did you learn about Chinese Culture from this video?
What do you notice about the Art above? Do the pictures have anything inn common? what kind of colours are used? and in pairs and create a wordle using the adjectives that you would use to describe culture and art in China. what you see for example; 'colourful'.
